Treadmill Testing

A treadmill test is an exercise stress test where a patient walks on a treadmill with interval increases in grade and speed. This is done in order to stress the heart by increasing the heart rate to a percent of maximum. The patient's ECG is continuously monitored. This test can be used to screen for coronary artery disease, to asses physical activity levels, and sometimes to test pacemaker responses.
